Attractions in Los Angeles

Griffith Park
While most people think of Los Angeles as an urban center, it actually features many opportunities for outdoor recreation. Griffith Park is arguably the best spot for hiking in southern California. The trails allow you to hike above the Hollywood Sign and see the famous sign from a new perspective. You can also ride the trail on horseback. If you are still feeling adventurous after your hike, check out the abandoned zoo, also located within Griffith Park.

There are many things to look at in Los Angeles. The architecture downtown speaks for itself, but do not forget to check out the Egyptian style of the Los Angeles Central Public Library, built in the 1920s. Every tourist wants to check out the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which also includes attractions such as the Wax Museum and Ripley's Believe it or Not. If you are interested in the morbid side of the entertainment industry, you may want to visit the Hollywood Forever Cemetery to see graves of famous stars like Rudolph Valentino.

Museums
Several museums make great family-friendly attractions in Los Angeles. The Page Museum and La Brea Tar Pits, part of the Miracle Mile, are full of fossils and bones. This historical side of the city is one that many people do not get to see. The Museum of Death, located in Hollywood, is home to serial killer artifacts and other macabre items. Art museums such as the LACMA and Getty Center are cultural centers for the city.

Santa Monica Pier
The Santa Monica Pier, which includes the Pacific Park amusement center, is a great place to bring the family. This park features a giant ferris wheel, an arcade, and plenty of other rides. Not far from Venice Beach, the pier also includes an aquarium and a trapeze school.

Universal Studios Hollywood
Those willing to venture inland may enjoy the thrill rides at Universal Studios and City Walk, a unique shopping area. Universal Studios Hollywood is not only a working movie studio, but it is also a movie-based theme park. The park includes family-friendly rides such as The Simpsons Ride in addition to a few rides for the more adventurous, like Universal's House of Horrors. Families will enjoy shows like The Blues Brother Revue and Shrek 4-D. The lower lot of the park is home to the world famous Studio Tour, which takes guests on to the studio lot.
